About "Chà‚teau Nouille"

My kids sometimes call it the ‘Noodle Castle’. Although admittedly, it hardly sounds as charming as its French equivalent, it’s good to know that secondary school French courses paid off. đŸ˜‰

In 1899 Sir Ernest Prudent Joseph Nouille built his home –  a beautiful mansion accompanied by a small park –  alongside the ‘Ronseweg’ street.

The mansion was widely admired and was known as ‘Château Nouille’ among the inhabitants of Ellezelles. The Nouille family was well-known and widely represented in the area.

Sir Ernest, as they would call him, was an only child and one of the last rentiers in Ellezelles. Coming from an important family of land owners, Ernest made a living off of real estate management. The charming allure of the castle suggests Monsieur Nouille was a true romantic. Its intrinsic charm made me fall in love with the property.

The castle nowadays:

The fact that the estate is very well-preserved is a fruit of labour of many.

A series of renovations took place to turn Château Nouille into the ideal holiday home. Previous owners also renovated it with just as much care and passion, making sure that it would stand the test of time all the while keeping the soul of the mansion alive.

A mixture of eclectic influences make the neo-Rennaissance estate a typical belle-époque home.

All interior doors are painted and perfectly restored. In the living room you can still admire the ceilings in their original state and condition. The furniture is a playful mix of modern elements and pieces from the 19th – 20th century.

The colourful floors are still completely intact and contrast nicely with the rich colours on the walls.

There are three beautiful bleu cedars in the garden, as well as a red Prunus tree.

The current garden design is entirely in line with the original blue-red concept. The garden is large enough to offer both sunny and shaded areas to enjoy your holiday in.

This charming character home is located in Ellezelles, a town with a long tradition about witches, situated in the middle of ‘Pays des Collines’, between the ‘Muziekbos’ (Ronse), D’Hoppe (Vloesberg) and ‘Brakelbos’ forests.
